Kudeejeen is a melting pot of 3 different religions (Buddhism, Christianity and Islam) and 4 different beliefs. In the past, the first settlers in the Kudeejeen Community were the Portuguese whose traits are seen in the culture, architecture and cuisine. Besides the community’s most famous ‘Kanom Farang Kudeejeen’ or a Portuguese cupcake, there is a Kudeejeen lady who inherits the recipe of Thai royal cuisine in the reign of King Rama V and Portuguese cuisine from her ancestors who is best at making savory Thai-Portuguese dishes and traditional Thai dessert. Here’s the chance to try those extremely rare dishes and even cook them yourself!

The millennia-old city lays at the crossroads of two of the most important historical roads of the Arabian Peninsula: the frankincense road that originated in Yemen more than 3000 years ago, and the pilgrimage road to Makkah whose Ka'aba was already a place of worshiping before the advent of Islam and which hosts today the largest pilgrimage in the world.➢ Shubra Palace➢ Taif’s Heart Mall➢ Taif City➢ Masjid Al Kou➢ Masjid Abdullah Ibn abbas➢ Al Rudaf Park➢ Shafa Mountains

In this hour, Ali A. Allawi is the author of The Crisis of Islamic Civilization. He talks to Steve Paulson. Next, Tissa Hami is one of the world's few female Muslim stand-up comics. She talks with Jim Fleming abut how she went from a career on Wall Street to the comedy club circuit and what her Iranian mother (who's a dentist) thinks of it. And we hear bits from her act. Then, Christopher Caldwell talks with Steve Paulson about the European discomfort with the rising tide of Muslim immigration. Devout Muslims pose particular challenges for the largely secular European societies as their native populations age and decline. Caldwell's book is Reflections on the Revolution in Europe: Immigration, Islam and the West. After that, Senegalese pop star Youssou N'Dour is the top-selling African musician of all time. His album Egypt moved away from the raucous sounds of pop and was devoted to his faith. N'Dour is a devout Sufi Muslim. Film-maker Chai Vasarhelyi followed Youssou N'Dour and his band after the album came out and produced a documentary called I Bring What I Love. Anne Strainchamps talks with the film-maker and musician right after the film opened in New York. Egypt won a Grammy in 2005. We hear clips from Egypt and from the film. And finally, Hollywood screenwriter Kamran Pasha has written a novel called Mother of Believers. It's the story of Muhammad's third wife, Aisha, whom he married when she was very young. Pasha tells Jim Fleming why he wanted to tell this story in novel form, despite the potential controversy. And we hear him read a passage from the book. [Broadcast Date: February 10, 2010] 1. Language: English. Audio sample: http://samples.audible.de/rt/tbon/100210/rt_tbon_100210_sample.mp3. In Little X, Sonsyrea Tate reveals, through the acute vision and engaging voice of a curious child, the practices and policies of the mysterious organization most know only through media portrayals of its controversial leaders, Elijah Muhammad, Malcolm X, and Louis Farrakhan. First published in 1997, Little X chronicles the multigenerational experience of Tate's family, who broke from the traditional black church in the 1950s to join the radical Nation of Islam, then struggled to remain intact through disillusionment, shifting loyalties, and forays into Orthodox Islam. Little X is also an absorbing story of a little girl whose strict Muslim education filled her with pride, confidence, and a longing for freedom; of a teenager in an ankle-length dress and headwrap, struggling to fit in with non-Muslim peers; and of a young woman whose growing disillusionment with the Nation finally led to her break with the Muslim religion. Little X offers a rare glimpse into the everyday experience of the Nation of Islam and into a little-understood part of America's history and heritage. Selected by the American Library Association as a Best Books for Young Adults. The book is published by The University of Tennessee Press. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Janina Edwards. Spring Fever: The Illusion of Islamic Democracy...

The first fundamental truth about the "Arab Spring" is that there never was one. The salient fact of the Middle East, the only one, is Islam. The Islam that shapes the Middle East inculcates in Muslims the self-perception that they are members of a civilization implacably hostile to the West. The United States is a competitor to be overcome, not the herald of a culture to be embraced. Is this self-perception based on objective truth? Does it reflect an accurate construction of Islam? It is over these questions that American officials and Western intellectuals obsess. Yet the questions are irrelevant. This is not a matter of right or wrong, of some posture or policy whose subtle tweaking or outright reversal would change the facts on the ground. This is simply, starkly, the way it is. Every human heart does not yearn for freedom. In the Islam of the Middle East, "freedom" means something very nearly the opposite of what the concept connotes to Westerners - it is the freedom that lies in total submission to Allah and His law. That law, sharia, is diametrically opposed to core components of freedom as understood in the West - beginning with the very idea that man is free to make law for himself, irrespective of what Allah has ordained. It is thus delusional to believe, as the West's Arab Spring fable insists, that the region teems with Jamal al-Madisons holding aloft the lamp of liberty. Do such revolutionary reformers exist? Of course they do...but in numbers barely enough to weave a fictional cover story. When push came to shove - and worse - the reformers were overwhelmed, swept away by a tide of Islamic supremacism, the dynamic, consequential mass movement that beckons endless winter. That is the real story of the Arab Spring - that, and the Pandora's Box that opens when an American administration aligns with that movement, whose stated goal is to destroy America. 1.
